School Report Card
Letter from the Principal
Dear Students, Parents, and Community Members:
Welcome to the Health Science Academy at Monroe Middle School. Our mission is to empower all scholars to be confident learners and leaders while promoting self-efficacy and a growth mindset through celebrations and an atmosphere of trust with a vision of empowering all scholars to lead their own learning.
As we review our schoolwide data, we want to keep you informed about our School's Report Card grade for the 2024-2025 school year. School Report Cards are provided for NC public schools, charter schools, and alternative schools.
Health Sciences Academy @ Monroe Middle School will continue to make gains this upcoming school year. Our school performance achievement score for the 2024-2025 school year increased by 6 points, which moved the school from an F rating to a D rating. Although we also did not meet growth, we missed meeting growth by 4 points, which was 12 points higher than the previous year. As a result, the school is still in the category of a low-performing school. Although we did not meet growth overall in all subgroups, performance areas, the school did meet growth expectations in overall reading and math., economically disadvantaged students, students with disabilities, Black students, Hispanic students and White students. Nevertheless, there is still a lot of work to do in all subject areas across the board, including improving our overall proficiency rating, exceeding growth schoolwide, and across all subgroups.
As we look into the upcoming school year, we have three areas of focus. First, we will focus on school culture and community. In order for students to be successful academically, we must take care of each student’s social and emotional needs. This will include our continued focus on the use of CHAMPS, PBIS and our continued focus on being a Leader in Me school. We will also continue to focus our efforts on creating a safe and inclusive environment within our classrooms and throughout our school environment. Additionally, we will continue to have high expectations for academic achievement and work to reinforce this daily with our scholars, as well as our staff, all while helping students to lead and take ownership of their learning and the learning environment.
We want to continue to partner with you to help make Health Sciences Academy at Monroe Middle School a safe, engaging, and effective learning environment for all of our scholars.
